Calcium Nitrohydroxylaminate, CaN2O3.3½H2O

Calcium Nitrohydroxylaminate, CaN2O3.3½H2O, is prepared by the action of the corresponding sodium salt on calcium chloride solution. It forms transparent crystals only slightly soluble in water, and decomposed by mineral acids and acetic acid. On heating to 125° C. it loses 3 molecules of water, and at a still higher temperature breaks up into a mixture of nitrite and hyponitrite. It is also decomposed by mineral acids and by acetic acid.
