Monocalcium Aluminate, CaO.Al2O3
By fusing together calcium and aluminium oxides in the electric furnace, Dufau obtained a spinel-like compound in needle-shaped crystals resembling beryllium aluminate or calcium chromite. The melting-point is about 1590° C. It sets and hardens with water.
